Ingredients
- 1 cake (or pkg.) yeast, dissolved in 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 egg, beaten well
- 2 c. scalded milk, cooled to lukewarm
- 3 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2/3 c. shortening, melted (not oil, butter is especially good)
- 6 c. flour
- 3 Tbsp. instant potatoes
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water in small container.

2Let it soak while beating egg in cup.

3Put the sugar and salt into a large mixing bowl.

4Pour scalded milk over it and stir.

5Add yeast, being sure to scrape it all out, next add beaten egg and stir again.

6Now add 3 cups flour and stir until blended.

7Add melted butter (be sure it isn't hot) blend, add 3 more cups flour and stir until blended but do not knead as with most yeast doughs.
