  • 1 qt. milk, scalded
  • 12 oz. vegetable oil
  • 6 Tbsp. yeast (6 envelopes)
  • 1 pt. warm milk
  • 4 oz. sugar
  • flour

    In 1 quart scalded milk, put oil and sugar. Let cool to lukewarm. In pint of warm milk, put yeast; let dissolve without stirring. When first mixture is cool, add yeast and milk to it. Add enough flour to make soft dough; cover and let rise at room temperature until it doubles in bulk (about 2 hours). Knead, roll, cut, stretch, dip in melted butter. Fold over and butter tops. Let rise for 2 hours again; bake at 450° until brown. Makes about 100.
