- 5 c. self-rising flour (unsifted)
- 1 pkg. dry yeast (active, not quick)
- 1/2 c. cold water (to dissolve yeast)
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
Directions

1Mix sugar and flour.

2Cut in shortening.

3Pour yeast mixture into flour.

4Add 1 cup cold water (more if needed).

5Work dough until rubbery.

6Grease a large glass bowl.

7Pour dough into bowl. Coat with shortening and cover with plastic wrap.

8Let dough rise about 30 minutes.

9Sprinkle flour on work area and work dough out. Roll out dough and cut.

10Place on greased cookie sheet and allow to rise 30 minutes in a warm place.

11Bake at 450° until light brown.
