- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 5 1/2 c. flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water, scald milk, add sugar, salt and shortening.

2Beat in 2 cups flour.

3Add softened yeast and egg. Mix well, then add remaining flour to make a soft dough.

4Turn out on floured board and knead until dough

5is smooth and elastic. Place in a greased crock, cover and let rise in warm place until doubled.

6Punch down, shape into rolls and let rise to double. Bake at 375° for 15 minutes.

7Makes 2 1/2 dozen rolls.
