Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. sweet milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 yeast cake
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Add beaten egg to milk and mix with yeast and sugar dissolved in water. Cut shortening into flour.

2Mix flour and liquid to form soft dough.

3Knead gently on well floured board. Roll about 3/8-inch thick.

4Cut with large biscuit cutter. Brush the top with melted shortening or butter.

5Fold into pocketbook rolls.

6Place on a greased baking pan.

7Cover with towel and allow to rise for 2 to 4 hours at room temperature until about double in size.

8Bake at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes.
