  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. corn oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. yogurt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour

    Line a 9-inch square cake pan with greased wax paper.

    Dissolve cocoa in boiling water and stir in baking soda.

    Let cool.

    Beat corn oil and sugar well and add eggs, one at a time, beating well before each addition.

    Sift in flour and salt and fold alternately with yogurt.

    Stir in cooled chocolate mixture and vanilla.

    Pour into pan and bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.

    Cake can be eaten plain or with cream.
