Ingredients
- 1/4 c. each: large lima beans, small lima beans, pinto, red kidney, lentils, split pea, Great Northern, navy, pearl barley, black-eyed peas
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 2 qt. water
- 1/2 lb. ham or ham hocks
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large can tomatoes
- 1 pod of red pepper or 1 tsp. chili powder
- juice of lemon
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Wash thoroughly beans and place in large kettle.

2Cover with water and then add salt.

3Soak overnight.

4In the morning drain. Add water.

7Bring to a boil.

8Stir occasionally.

9Simmer 2 to 3 hours.

10Then add onion, tomatoes, pepper or chili powder, lemon juice and salt and pepper.

11Simmer another 30 minutes.

12Serves 12.
