  • 1/4 c. each: black-eyed peas, pinto beans, navy, red beans, limas, white, split peas, lentils and barley
  • 2 qt. water
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 3 carrots
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • chili powder
  • salt and pepper

Directions

    In a large pot, soak beans overnight.

    Drain and rinse.

    Bring beans to boil in 2 quarts water.

    Reduce heat; simmer for 2 1/2 hours.

    Add the remaining ingredients; simmer for 30 minutes. Serves 16 people.
