- 58 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar or 12 teaspoon Splenda brown sugar blend
- 18 teaspoon baking powder
- 18 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon lard (shortening)
- 1 12 tablespoons cold water
Directions

1Measure the first 4 ingredients into a bowl.

2Cut in lard until crumbly.

3Sprinkle with water.

4Stir with fork.

5Shape into a ball.

6If necessary, a small amount of extra water may be added, about 1/2 tsp at a time.

7The less water used, the better.

8Makes enough for 2-6 inch single crust pies or 1-6 inch double crust pies.

9Set oven at 400 degrees F.

10For Single Crust Pie:.

11Roll out pastry , turn 6 inch foil pie plate upside down.

12Cover with pastry on the OUTSIDE of the pie plate.

13Prick all over with fork.

14Trim edge and bake about 10 minutes to brown.

15Cool and transfer to inside of pie plate.

16Fill with desired filling.
