  • 12 firm cucumbers
  • 4 c. vinegar
  • 8 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. pickling spice

Directions

    Cover cucumbers with boiling water for 3 days.

    Take cucumbers out and boil fresh water.

    If cucumbers become soft, discontinue. On fourth day, peel

    and slice.

    Heat vinegar, sugar, salt and pickling spice.

    Add sliced cucumbers.

    On the fifth and sixth day, drain.

    Heat brine to boiling, then add cucumbers.

    On seventh day, heat brine, add cucumbers and heat through.

    Put a little alum in jar.

    Seal.
