Ingredients
- 500 g turnips
- 100 g long grain rice or 100 g basmati rice
- 200 g ground lamb or 200 g ground beef
- 2 large onions
- 50 g split peas
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 100 g of fresh mint
- cooking oil
- salt
- black pepper
Directions

1Mix ground meat with grated onions, salt and black pepper.

2Shape into small balls, and fry in oil until colour changes.

3Add 4-5 glasses of hot water and split peas and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes.

4Wash turnip and rice.

5Peel turnip and cut into a few pieces.

6Add both to aash.

7Also add turmeric, salt and black pepper.

8Mix well and cook over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

9If using fresh mint, wash and chop finely.

10Fry mint in oil over medium heat for 2-3 minutes and pour over aash when serving.
