  • 5 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. flour, sifted 3 times
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

    Beat egg whites to foam.

    Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and salt.

    Beat stiff.

    Beat egg yolks and gradually add 1 cup sugar and beat until lemon color.

    Add flour and water in small amounts. Add vanilla.

    Fold yellows into whites.

    Bake in large ungreased angel food pan at 300° for 30 minutes and at 350° for 30 minutes longer.
