  • 1 1/3 c. cake flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 sq. Baker's unsweetened chocolate, melted

    Sift flour; add baking powder, salt and sugar.

    Sift together 3 times.

    Add butter.

    Combine eggs, milk and vanilla; add to flour mixture, stirring until all flour is dampened.

    Add chocolate and blend.

    Then beat vigorously for 1 minute.

    Bake in a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan in a moderate 325° oven for 1 hour. Frost.
