- 1 c. yellow corn meal
- 1 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 6 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
Directions

1Stir corn meal slowly into combined hot milk and water.

2Add shortening, molasses and salt.

3Let stand until lukewarm.

4Sprinkle yeast into water; stir until dissolved.

5Stir into corn meal mixture alternately with flour.

6Turn out on a lightly floured board and knead about 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

7Place dough in a greased bowl, cover and let rise until double in size. Knead down; divide dough into two parts.

8Shape each into a loaf. Let rise until double in size.

9Bake in 350° oven for 45 to 50 minutes.
