- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. corn meal
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. warm water (125~)
- 5 Tbsp. soft butter
- 1/2 c. molasses
Directions

1Stir 2 cups flour, corn meal, yeast and salt together in a mixing bowl.

2Add water, butter and molasses.

3Beat hard for 3 minutes.

4Mix in enough remaining flour to make a stiff dough. Turn out onto a floured board.

5Knead until no longer sticky. Place in a greased bowl.

6Butter top of dough lightly.

7Cover with a clean towel.

8Let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (1 to 1 1/2 hours).

9Punch dough down.

10Turn onto a floured board; knead 1 to 2 minutes.

11Shape into 2 balls.

12Place in greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pans.

13Let rise until doubled, 35 to 40 minutes.

14Bake at 375° for 40 to 50 minutes until they sound hollow.

15Makes 2 loaves.
