- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together in a large bowl that has a tight fitting lid.

2Cut shortening into flour mixture.

3Add buttermilk and yeast, dissolved in warm water.

4Mix with spoon until all flour is moistened.

5Cover bowl.

6Put in refrigerator until ready to use.

7Take out as much dough as needed.

8Shape in a ball.

9Roll on a floured cloth.

10Cut as biscuits.

11Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet in 400° oven about 12 minutes or until brown.

12Dough will keep several days.
