- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. Crisco
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.

2Mix dry ingredients in order given, cutting in shortening as you normally do for biscuits or pie dough.

3Stir in buttermilk and yeast mixture.

4Blend thoroughly. Turn dough out on floured board and knead lightly.

5Pat out and cut.

6Place on a greased baking sheet. Let dough rise slightly. Bake at 400° until lightly browned, about 30 minutes.
