- 5 c. unsifted flour
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water; let stand 5 to 10 minutes. Combine sugar, flour and salt; cut in shortening.

2Pour 1 cup buttermilk on top of flour mixture; add yeast to buttermilk and mix slightly.

3Add other cup of buttermilk and mix well.

4Knead on floured board.

5Store in covered container in refrigerator.

6Will keep 1 week.

7Take amount needed; roll or cut biscuits.

8Dip in melted butter.

9Biscuits are lighter if dough is allowed to double in bulk before baking.

10Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
