- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3 Tbsp. Crisco shortening
- 1/2 c. buttermilk

1Soften yeast in lukewarm water; set aside. Measure and

2sift dry ingredients together.

3Cut shortening into mixture.

4Add milk and yeast; stir until well blended.

5Roll dough 1/2-inch thick.

6Cut into biscuits, using 2-inch biscuit cutter.

7Place rolls in greased pan and let rise in warm place for 1 hour.

8Bake at 450° for 10 minutes or until brown.

9Brush top with butter or margarine.
