- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 3 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
Directions

1Mix sugar and flour together.

2Cut in shortening.

3In separate bowl, stir soda into milk and blend this into dry ingredients.

4Add yeast to warm water and fold into mixture.

5Turn out on a floured surface and knead.

6Cut the biscuits and bake in a 375° oven. Remaining dough can be covered and kept in the refrigerator for 2 weeks.

7Makes 48 biscuits.
