- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 5 c. plain flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Crisco
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Sift together dry ingredients; cut in shortening.

3Add yeast and buttermilk to dry ingredients.

4Knead enough to hold together; roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness.

5Cut with biscuit cutter and fold into halves. Set aside and let rise approximately 1 hour.

6Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
