- 5 c. self-rising flour, sifted before measuring
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk (lukewarm)
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water; sift flour, soda and sugar together.

2Add shortening, mixing well.

3Add buttermilk and dissolved yeast mixture; stir well.

4Refrigerate before using (overnight is best).

5Roll and cut into biscuits.

6Let rise 1 or 2 hours.

7Bake at 350° until lightly browned.

8(Will also keep in refrigerator at least a week.)
