- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/8 c. warm water
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Sift flour and sugar together.

3Cut in shortening.

4Stir in yeast mixture and buttermilk.

5Roll out on floured board and cut into biscuits.

6Brush with melted butter or cooking oil, if desired.

7Dough will keep in refrigerator for few days.

8Serves 4 dozen biscuits.
