- 1/2 c. warm water
- 5 c. flour
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 5 tsp. baking powder
- 2 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

4Add shortening and blend into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

5Combine baking soda and buttermilk and stir into flour mixture.

6Stir in dissolved yeast and mix well.

7Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight or at least several hours.
