- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. milk
- butter or margarine, melted
Directions

1Grease one 15x10x1 inch pan (13x9x2 and 9x9x2 will work) with melted butter or margarine.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water.

3Add to flour mixture stir with fork until moist.

4Roll out 1/2 inch thick on floured surface. Cut with 2 inch cutter.

5Place close together in prepared pans.

6Cover with damp cloth and allow to rise one hour.

7Bake in preheated 400° oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until browned.

8Brush tops with melted butter or margarine.

9Serve while hot.

10Makes 30 to 40 biscuits.
