- 1 pkg. yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Sift together dry ingredients and cut in shortening.

3Add yeast to buttermilk and mix with dry ingredients.

4Turn out onto a floured surface.

5Knead and roll out, cut into biscuits.

6Bake at 375° until brown.
