Ingredients
- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. warm water
Directions

1Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt.

2Cut in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water.

4Stir into buttermilk mixture to dry ingredients and stir until moistened.

5Cover and chill.

6When ready to use, roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 1/2 to 3/4-inch thickness.

7Cut off biscuits with 2-inch cutter and place on lightly greased cookie sheet.

8Bake at 400° for 12 minutes.

9Dough will keep several weeks in the refrigerator. You can add more flour and water to weaken mixture (of too strong a yeast taste).

10Yield:

114 to 5 dozen (2-inch) biscuits.
