- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 3 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Sift together into a mixing bowl, flour, baking powder, sugar, soda and salt.

2Cut in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in water.

4Add to flour mixture.

5Then add buttermilk.

6Work together with a large wooden spoon until flour is moistened.

7Cover bowl.

8Store in refrigerator until ready to use.

9Roll out the amount to be used on a floured board to 1/2-inch thickness.

10Cut out and put on greased cookie sheet.

11Let rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

12(I cover with a clean dish towel.)

13Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.

14This dough will keep for several weeks in refrigerator.
