- 5 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 envelope yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 stick margarine, melted
Directions

1Stir dry ingredients together.

2Blend in shortening.

3Dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand 5 minutes.

4Add buttermilk-yeast mixture to flour mixture.

5Mix well.

6Turn on pastry cloth or board.

7Roll or pat to desired thickness.

8Cut biscuits.

9Dip in melted margarine and place on greased pans.

10Bake at 450° for 12 minutes.
