- 5 c. sifted self-rising flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 c. shortening (Crisco solid)
- 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Combine flour, soda and sugar; cut in shortening and stir in yeast and buttermilk.

2Keep covered in refrigerator at least one hour before using.

3Roll out and cut the biscuits.

4Let rise for 2 hours.

5Dough will keep in refrigerator for 1 week.

6Bake at 400° for 10 to 15 minutes.
