- 6 c. self-rising flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 pkg. (1 oz.) active dry yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450°.

2Sift flour, sugar, salt and soda together.

3Cut in shortening.

4Add yeast and buttermilk.

5Knead well.

6It may be necessary to knead in more flour.

7Cut out biscuits and bake 10 to 12 minutes.

8Dough may be covered and refrigerated for a week.

9Makes 24 to 30 biscuits.
