- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 c. flour (White Lily self-rising flour)
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.

2Stir together flour, sugar and baking soda and cut in shortening.

3Mix buttermilk and yeast water. Stir in flour mixture. Knead 4 to 5 times.

4Pat out to 1/4-inch thick. Place closely together on a lightly greased cookie sheet.

5Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

6Brush melted butter on top.
