- 1 c. shortening
- 2 pkg. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
Directions

1Cut shortening in the dry ingredients.

2Pour the yeast into the buttermilk before pouring it into the flour mixture.

3Mix with a stiff spoon.

4Roll dough on a floured surface to desired thickness; cut with biscuit cutter.

5Bake in conventional oven at 425°.

6Keeps well in refrigerator for several days in covered container.
