- 1 cake yeast
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 5 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water.

2In bowl, sift flour with other dry ingredients.

3Cut in shortening; add buttermilk, then yeast.

4Stir until flour is dampened.

5Knead on floured board 1/2 minute.

6Roll out 1/2-inch thickness; cut with biscuit cutter.

7Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.

8No rising necessary.

9This dough can be refrigerated and used as needed up to a week.
