- 5 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water (105~ to 115~)
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. soft butter
Directions

1Combine dry ingredients; cut in shortening until looks like coarse meal.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water; stir yeast mixture and buttermilk into flour mixture.

3Mix well.

4Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll into a rectangle 1/4-inch thick. Spread evenly with butter.

5Fold dough in half and cut into 2-inch squares.

6Place on greased baking sheets.

7Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.
