- 5 c. unsifted plain flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Crisco
- 2 tsp. warm water
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Mix dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl.

2Cut shortening into the dry ingredients.

3Dissolve yeast in 2 tablespoons warm water.

4Add dissolved yeast to buttermilk.

5Mix yeast and buttermilk mixture with flour mixture.

6Place in airtight container and chill for at least 20 minutes before rolling out. Cut biscuits.

7Place on baking sheet and allow them to sit in a warm place 10 minutes before baking.

8Bake at 400° for about 10 minutes or until brown.
