Ingredients

  • 5 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Directions

    Sift flour, sugar and soda.

    Add shortening; mix well. Dissolve the yeast in warm water.

    Add buttermilk to yeast and add liquid to flour mix.

    After mixing thoroughly, roll out and cut. Bake at 450° until golden brown.

    May be stored up to 1 week in refrigerator.
