- 1 pkg. yeast
- 3 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 1 c. shortening
- 3 c. buttermilk
- 5 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water in a small bowl.

2Sift all ingredients together in a large bowl.

3Cut in shortening; add buttermilk, then yeast mix.

4Stir until thoroughly moistened.

5Knead a minute or two.

6Roll out to desired thickness.

7Cut into rounds.

8Brush with melted butter and bake on an ungreased pan at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes.

9Dough may be refrigerated until ready to use.

10It will keep for several days.
