  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

    Cream shortening and sugar; add egg.

    Then add sifted dry ingredients.

    Roll into small balls.

    Cover bottom of glass with cloth and moisten.

    Dip in sugar.

    Press balls flat.

    Makes 6 dozen.

    Bake at 325°.
