- 1 34 cups pre-sifted all-purpose flour
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 5 tablespoons butter or 5 tablespoons shortening, chilled
- 34 cup milk or 34 cup buttermilk
Directions

1Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

2Combine flour, salt, and baking powder.

3Cut the butter or shortening into the flour until it is the consistency of cornmeal- slightly crumbly.

4Add milk or buttermilk all at once.

5Stir the dough until it comes away from the sides of the bowl, then turn it onto a lightly floured board.

6Sift a small amount of flour over the top.

7Knead dough until no longer sticky and it is smooth.

8Roll out dough to desired thickness.

9Cut dough with a bicuit cutter or cookie cutter dipped in a little flour.

10Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.

11Brush the tops with a little melted butter.

12Bake biscuits 12-15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
