Appetizer Vienna Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Vienna bread
  • 1/2 lb. margarine
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp. poppy seed
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 lb. baby Swiss cheese
  • 4 oz. sliced mushrooms

Directions

    Cut 3 lengthwise slits in bread. Cut 1-inch slices crosswise. Do not cut through bottom crust.

    Melt margarine. Add onion, poppy seed and dry mustard. Add grated cheese and mushrooms.

    Mixture will be gloppy. Spoon into sliced bread.

    Use all of mixture. Wrap in heavy foil.

    Bake at 350° for 40 minutes on oven rack.

    Now cut through bottom crust.
