- 1 lb cooking apple, peeled, cored and chopped
- 10 ounces all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 5 ounces light brown sugar
- 4 ounces butter, melted
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 3/4 cup milk
- Topping
- 2 ounces toasted hazelnuts
- 2 ounces flour
- 2 ounces brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 ounce butter
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 375°F

2Grease and line the base of a 8in loose-based cake tin.

3Sift the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into a large bowl; stir in the sugar and apples.

4Mix the butter, eggs and milk together and stir into the dry ingredients - stir until just mixed.

5Pour into the prepared tin.

6Place the remaining ingredients in a food processor and blend until crumbly.

7Scatter over the top of the cake. Bake for 1hr - 1h 15mins or until risen and firm.

8Cool in the tin.

9Cut into wedges and serve.
