  • 4 cups day-old French bread cubes
  • 2 cups chopped apples, peeled
  • 12 cup raisins
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 (300 ml) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 34 cups hot water
  • 14 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract

    FOR THE BREAD PUDDING: Heat oven to 350F Combine bread, apples and raisins.

    Place in a 9-inch square baking pan.

    Beat eggs; add milk, water, butter and extract.

    Pour over bread mixture, completely moistening bread.

    Bake 45-50 minutes until knife comes out clean.

    Cool slightly.

    Serve warm with maple rum sauce.

    MAPLE RUM SAUCE:.

    In a saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter; stir in 1/2 cup whipping cream and 1 cup brown sugar.

    Stir over medium heat until mixture boils for 2-3 minutes.

    Remove and stir in 2 Tbps.
