- 1 peck apples
- approximately 10 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. ground cloves
- 4 c. water
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground allspice
Directions

1Quarter and cook apples, unpeeled, with water.

2Cover, let simmer until apples are tender.

3Run through sieve.

4There should be about 5 quarts apple pulp.

5Add half as much sugar as you have pulp.

6Add spices.

7Let simmer 2 hours, stirring frequently.

8When thick, pour into hot jars and seal at once.

9Remember, apple butter becomes thicker when cold.

10Makes 9 or 10 pints.
