  • 1/2 cup chopped PLANTERS Walnuts
  • 1-1/4 cups sugar, divided
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1-3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
  • 1 container (8 oz.) BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 apples, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch pieces Safeway 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09

    Heat oven to 350F.

    Mix nuts, 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon; set aside.

    Mix flour and baking powder; set aside.

    Mix sour cream and baking soda; set aside.

    Beat butter and remaining sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing on low speed after each just until blended.

    Blend in vanilla.

    Add flour mixture alternately with sour cream mixture, mixing after each addition.

    Spoon half the batter into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.

    Top with apples and half the nut mixture.

    Repeat layers with remaining batter and nut mixture.
