  • 3 cups sliced peeled tart apples
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, optional

Directions

    Prepare cake batter according to package directions; pour into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Combine the apples, walnuts, sugar and cinnamon; spoon over batter. Pour cream over the top.

    Bake at 350° for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
