- 2 lb. tart cooking apples, peeled, cored and cut in 1/2-inch lengthwise slices (about 4 large)
- 1 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 c. flour, lightly spooned into the cup
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 c. butter or melted margarine
- 3/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. heavy cream, softly whipped
Directions

1Spread apples in buttered shallow baking dish (about 2-quart capacity).

2Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon.

3Mix butter and vanilla and add to flour mixture, tossing with a fork to make a crumbly mixture.

4Sprinkle evenly over apples.

5Bake at 400° for 30 to 40 minutes or until brown and apples are tender.

6Let cool partially, then top with cream.

7Makes about 6 servings.
