Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt (optional)
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 8 to 10 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  • 1 stick margarine, melted

Directions

    Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

    Add egg to dry ingredients; mix until crumbly.

    Put sliced apples in a greased 8 x 8-inch baking dish; add 1/2 cup sugar (or to taste) and cinnamon (to taste).

    Top with crumbly mixture.

    Melt 1 stick of margarine; pour over mixture.

    Bake at 375° for 30 to 45 minutes, or until top is golden brown.

    (Recipe may be doubled for a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.)
