Apple Crunch Dessert

- 4 large tart cooking apples, pared, cored and sliced
- 13 cup water (add in for softer apples) (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup crushed corn flakes (1 cup after crushing)
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 12 cup butter, melted (no subsitutions)
- whipped cream (to garnish)
Directions

1Set oven to 375 degrees F.

2Butter a shallow 2-quart casserole.

3In the bottom of casserole, arrange apple slices.

4Add water if desired for softer apples.

5In a small bowl blend together the cinnamon, cornflake crumbs, sugar and butter, then pat the mixture over apples.

6Bake until the apples are tender, and the crust is browned, about 30-45 minutes.

7Serve warm with whipped cream.

8**NOTE** if you prefer the apples very soft and mushy add in the 1/3 cup water, for a harder apple add in only a couple of tablespoons of water, or no water at all.
