- 2 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 egg
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. butter

Directions

1Make pastry combining flour, baking powder, salt and shortening.

2Add milk and egg.

3Roll out as pie crust.

4Prepare apples by peeling and coring them.

5Wrap pastry around each apple, pinching edges together.

6Combine water, sugar and butter and bring to a boil.

7Pour syrup into baking dish and place dumplings in hot syrup.

8Bake 15 minutes at 350°, then 45 minutes at 275°.
